Laura Cahen - Quitter La Ville
French singer-songwriter Laura Cahen combines acoustic and electronic sounds in her music to create soulful, self-reflective soundscapes - always carried by her crystal clear voice. Influences from artists such as Laurie Anderson, Laura Marling and Adrianne Lenker are also clearly audible. In the form of poetic love songs, she deals with questions of femininity, homosexuality and feminism, as well as ecological issues. Laura Cahen comes to her concerts with a suitcase full of stylistic elements ranging from classic chanson to flawless pop songs. In her music she mixes the new with the traditional, using elements from pop, trip-hop and chanson.
In the ten years of her career, Laura Cahen has toured France and parts of Europe and America. Her last release 'Des Filles' featured guest appearances by Juliette Armanet, Jeanne Added and Yael Naim. Three songs from her second album 'Une Fille' have been used in major TV shows and films, including 'You' (Netflix), 'Tales of the Walking Dead' (AMC) and the Oscar-nominated film 'I Lost My Body'.
Laura Cahen's third studio album, produced by Mike Lindsay (Tunng, LUMP) and Josephine Stephenson (Ex:Re, Damon Alban, Arctic Monkeys), will be released on PIAS Recordings in early 2025, with the first single 'Quitter la ville' already listed on major radio stations and streaming platforms. From spring 2025, she will bring 'Quitter La Ville' to the stage with multi-instrumentalist and composer Josephine Stephenson in a light and reduced duo formation.
